Basic Wardrobe

Top.  Bottom. Shoes.  And yes, underwear.  All covering a body.  But different.

Basic for a runner – would look very different then for a day at the office.

Basic for a teen would certainly not be my basic.

Basic for firefighting would be far different than for just sitting abound the campfire.

Even basic for the 8:00  church service differs from the 11:00 service.  Especially for the Pastors at our church.

But God has chosen the basic for his followers.  If you put it on, others will know who you are.  A child of God.

Put on Love.  In word.  In deed.  In all you do.  Action, that is what God has chosen for His people.  If you are without the basic: Love.  Others won’t recognize you as God’s chosen.

But, how does love show?  Are there seasonal changes?  Different at church than around the house?  On the highway?  Does love have color?  Can you feel it?  Or do you just know?

God has chosen my wardrobe.  He wants me to wear it.  Put it on and wear it always.

Colossians 3:12-14 (MSG) says put on: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline. Be even-tempered.  Be content with second place.  Be quick to forgive.  And regardless of what else you put on, wear love.

God’s basic wardrobe.  He even gives the Holy Spirit to help.  That way we can not commit ‘fashion suicide’ (as my granddaughter calls it).

S’more Thinkin’…

I guess Love is like an overcoat.  An overcoat protects everything that is under it.  It protects from the effects of the cold, rain, snow, wind and maybe even dirt.

Does love protect from the affects of the world?  Love covers a multitude of sins.

I guess I could even be naked under the overcoat of love and no one would know.
